Command hardened troops, deadly vehicles and high tech weaponry with one goal in mind, the complete extermination of the opposition. Utilizing the exceptional game design skills of Relic Entertainment, Dawn of War provides an immersive entertainment experience of epic proportions. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War is a revolutionary science fiction real-time strategy (RTS) game set in the violent, post-apocalyptic universe of the 41st Millennium.

Winter Assault promises to be one of the biggest expansion packs ever. The expansion pack to the award winning Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War will build upon the most exciting, visceral, front-line battlefield ever seen in an RTS game. The Imperials will summon it to overcome great evil, Chaos will corrupt it for their own designs, Orks will destroy it in their bloodlust and Eldar will disregard it in their arrogance. The one who controls it will command the power to destroy, or defend, a world. All in all, the 300MB download installs easily and provides several hours of enjoyable real-time strategy with the outstanding graphics we've come to expect from the Warhammer: 40,000 series.Lost amongst the ruins of a leveled city lies an Emperor Class Titan, a war vessel of untold power forged in the planet-wide furnaces of Mars, and revered by billions as the epitome of Imperial dominance. The first is a rather leisurely conquest, while the second requires a quick buildup of resources for you to avoid getting crushed by the Spare Marines. The tutorial is adequate but not comprehensive, and the two missions vary greatly in difficulty. Battles are basically decided by controlling various strategic points around the playing field, then using that consolidated power to crush your opponent. Aside from the new factions, most of the other updates to the Warhammer universe are new units and a new single-player campaign. The game controls haven't changed at all from the original Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War, but the graphics that have been included in Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War Soulstorm have improved quite a lot in comparison to earlier expansions, actually reaching a very high level for a strategy game. Gameplay will be extremely familiar to anyone who's tried Warhammer: 40K: Dawn of War, or really any recent real-time strategy game. The former are skeletal warriors bent on death and destruction, while the latter are committed to fighting for "The Greater Good." Even though the demo only allows you to play the goody-two-shoes Tau Empire in two skirmishes against the Space Marines, there's more than enough real-time fun to earn the reasonably sized demo a top rating. The two additions-Necrons and Tau Empire-are at opposite sides of the philosophical spectrum. The standalone demo for the latest expansion to the sci-fi real-time strategy game Warhammer: 40,000: Dawn of War throws in new factions and new units for all the factions.
